To whoever lives in Miami-Dade County, Florida has to know of a city called Hialeah. It is the sixth largest city in Florida with a population 223,109 as of the 2020 census. I would definitely say that Hialeah is one of the cities where there is so much to do and see. Especially when it has so much history that you can learn about. My classmates and I were able to be in groups and be able to show each other the discoveries that we made trying to uncover the past, future, and present.

As we begin to uncover our discoveries I would like to mention that Hialeah is one of the cities that has made so much progress over the years with so much being done with a great community. To anyone who ends up in Hialeah will notice that it is full of people from Cuba. Of course, there are many other nationalities that live there but the major nationality is Cuban. The hispanic communities are what makes Hialeah a place where you want to stop by and drink your coffee in the morning. There is so much to see and experience in Hialeah because of all the ethnicities that are there you get to know about each and everyone of them.

In the past there have been big events where people emigrate from Cuba to Florida like the Golden Exile in 1959 which was the emigration of cuban people from the 1959 Cuban Revolution to October 1962. The cause of this event had the people of Cuba oppose Fidel Castro who was a Cuban revolutionary who in other words had Cuba as a communist country. Another event was the balsero crisis of 1994 where over 35,000 Cubans came to Florida on boats or make shift rafts which was the largest exodus since the 1980 Mariel boat lift. Anyone can imagine how hard it has to leave your country due to a leader who you feel instead of helping your country is making it worse.

Throughout the years as more people came to Hialeah everything began to expand and become something beautiful where many can happily call their home. There are many spots in Hialeah where you can find monuments dedicated to people or be of significance in the community such as the Don Quixote statue of 49th street, the monument for Jose Marti Perez on 29th street, and the Cuban Culture in Exile Heritage park on 9th street. All of these hold meaning in the city of hialeah for those who know of the significance these were created for. We can all go to these landmarks to take a look to learn more of the past because they have meaning that maybe we haven't had the change to admire yet. For all we know there might be people that we know that might have relatives who participated in these events.

Last but not least, the future of Hialeah seems bright especially with all the future projects and renovations that are being planned. For us that have been to Hialeah know the immense traffic that there is all over the place its almost as if you can't escape it. There is a plan for renovation for the northwest covering parts of Hialeah which will significantly help the area with the traffic. Not only this but there so many more plans to renovate the city of Hialeah to make the quality of life better for the residents. There is plenty of entertainment in Hialeah like Calle 8 where so many tourist go to discover the life of Hialeah this will always remain a staple no matter what renovations are done if you just go there you will have so much fun even if it remains the way it is now.

Hialeah is known as the city of progress and the progress will continue to be made as long as there is a community that sees the life in Hialeah. Even though Hialeah had a rough up bringing now in the present the citizens of Hialeah are content with their city the way it is. Change will always be present because nothing remains the same but it is all in good hands. Many will come to Hialeah to see how it has progressed or may even see it on the news after making very big renovations for the community. It is without a doubt that anyone who comes to Miami-Dade will not be able to miss Hialeah.
