Reflection Blog 1  My first group of classmates introduced the concept of public speaking. The speaker should take a n audience-centered approach when communicating information to listeners. The speaker should not sound like they are reading off a piece of paper, the speech should have a conversational tone that connects with the audience and makes them focused on what the speaker has to say. The information should be engaging, so that the speaker can grab hold of the audience’s attention. Communication is dependent on the cooperation between the speaker and the audience . The first group talked about tips to improve as a communicator and public speaker. A person delivering a speech should place a strong emphasis on being a good listener and maintaining eye contact with the people in the audience, being organized, and having a confident approach and de meanor when speaking to the audience. All the attributes discussed in the presentation by the f irst group will help me and...

It's for that reason that I would love to share with whoever is reading the content and tips that each presenter gave and resume to the best of my capacities the content of each chapter presented. To start, the book we were presenting was Mastering the Art of Public Speaking: Insights from "Public Speaking: The Evolving Art, 5e". And i      We started with  Chapter 1;  It began with an introduction to the significance of public speaking in modern society.   Reflection Blog Post #1 Public speaking is the act of giving speeches on a certain topic or topics to a live audience and can be performed online or in person. Our speech class went over many different factors that go into giving a speech.   Group 1 spoke to us first about public speaking. Speakers will often try to adapt to their audience in order to connect with them. So they might switch to a more conversational style, try and involve the audience, or use different forms of technology. With technology on the rise, it's more popular to be able to give speeches online and deliver to a wider audience.   Some foundations of public speaking rely on Aristotle’s ideas of public speaking. He emphasizes the use of logos, pathos, and ethos. Logos is using logic to make your point. Pathos is appealing to people’s emotions to better connect with your audience. Ethos is when you build trust so your audience sees you as a more reliable figure and listens to you more. There are 5 d...

Reflection Blog 1  To whoever has come upon this blog to learn new things about the world of communication you are in the right place because I want to be able to inform what I learned from all the chapters of communication from my peers. Communication is important because you are able to understand people better and you are also able to create relationships with audiences or friends. Communicating is not easy for some people because there are many who are not used to being social and it takes a lot in them to even be able to speak to a group of people. Although, many do have the skills to communicate and deliver a message to a public group and give a speech to an audience. There are important steps in communicating and I will be introducing and talking about what may aid anyone in being able to gain skills for communication.  As we explore the art of public speaking I would like to mention that in today's generation public speaking can become easier because of technolo...

Hello to any person who takes time out of their life to read this blog. I just want to start off by saying that as someone who is very shy and has anxiety, speaking in public is absolutely one of the things I will always dread in this life, but this class has already taught me so many important things about public speaking. It has only been about two weeks since taking this course, but I already feel 50% more prepared to speak in public than I did before taking this course. With the career path that I have chosen, speaking in public is something that I will eventually have to do. In class, we had four groups give valuable information about public speaking. Each group had a different topic, and I would like to put my two cents in. I will talk about every group, including my own. Group one had a very aesthetically pleasing presentation. The yellow and blue colors they chose created an incredibly happy vibe, and I found myself smiling at some of the pictures they i...
