Reflection Blog 1

 To whoever has come upon this blog to learn new things about the world of communication you are in the right place because I want to be able to inform what I learned from all the chapters of communication from my peers. Communication is important because you are able to understand people better and you are also able to create relationships with audiences or friends. Communicating is not easy for some people because there are many who are not used to being social and it takes a lot in them to even be able to speak to a group of people. Although, many do have the skills to communicate and deliver a message to a public group and give a speech to an audience. There are important steps in communicating and I will be introducing and talking about what may aid anyone in being able to gain skills for communication.

 As we explore the art of public speaking I would like to mention that in today's generation public speaking can become easier because of technology it can enable distance speaking and interactive engagement. It's also important to remember that in an audience there will be all types of people which is important to connect with the audience any chance you get while giving a speech. While giving a speech it's important to mention that the way you present yourself while giving your speech it is worth feeling confident, practicing, speaking effectively in various settings. If you are aware that you don't do well in uncertain settings this can cause anxiety before the speech and you will then lack confidence. There are great exercises that will aid in helping you calm down such as breathing exercises. 

In the public speaking world before anything else you also have to be able to plan out what it is that you will be talking about. Being able to brain storm ideas is big because you get to be creative with what you will be talking about in your speech. Already having your specific topic will be useful because you will be able to brainstorm ideas and create reasonings and make it so the audience can feel engaged. Having an outline for the speech can make everything go smoothly without any errors because that way every part of the speech will be set out in order to know how to approach the audience. Being able to consider resources is a good idea so people will know where you get information it shows that you have trusty resources that you have used to help create the speech.

When creating a speech it is important to be as original as can be because it is not okay to plagiarize other peoples work that they have done just for someone else to claim as their own. Instead conduct research and obtain new knowledge that will aid in the speech so it can be your own original work. While you think about this you can research at a library, magazines, newspaper, and search engine ex. Google. You can also support your speech by including examples, definitions, and facts. While making a speech there will be parts like any other book or movie you need to have your introduction, body, transition, and conclusion.

One of the most important things before you give a speech is being able to make a great first impression  because you only get one shot to make it. This way the audience can tell if you are really passionate about what you will speaking about and if it means a lot to you. Also, so you can be able to leave a great memory and the audience will be able to go back and think about you spoke to them about. Language is very important because you have to be careful what to say and how to say it when speaking to an audience because in most case people today are from all sorts of countries and have different genders, so an important thing to think about is to be all inclusive and to be able to focus on the topic of the speech which is what really matters.

Going back to group two and thinking about their topic research is important because when you begin to research items to support your speech it is important to select items that will aid in getting your point across such as including graphs to show what you are talking about just so there are some visuals to help explain better. It's not recommended to do too much on a speech otherwise it will take away from the speech topic itself and instead the audience will be distracted. The success of your speech will depend on how you decide to work on it whether it be just speaking or being able to speak verbally and show your ideas on slides or with images of graphs. There are also four types of speech delivery methods that can be used such as Impromptu speaking which is a conversation styled speaking, extemporaneous speaking which is organized with spontaneity, manuscript delivery which is reading of a script which causes less audeince interaction, and memorized speech which is reciting from memory but will feel artificial. Another important thing is to not forget the audiences time it is important to respect the time that way you may also have time to receive feedback.

Last but not least, its important to be able to decide what organization pattern to use and the guidelines to have included in the informational speech. Of course, depending on the topic of the speech and how you want to relay the message you can decide how to portray the message whether it be informative or persuasive. Having a strong argument is also important because if not the audience will assume their own conclusion and will not be paying much attention to what you may be trying to speak about. Understanding an argumentative speech will create thoughts within the audience that will help aid in persuading the audience to think about the argument and if you are able to back up your claims. Evidence will play a big role because without it how will the audience know the truth in the claims in your speech.

Being able to master communication skills will be a great thing because in most jobs communication is required. As of 2022 no one really listens to radio but many now listen to podcasts which is just people talking and uploading to youtube for many others to watch but if it's no good then the audience will not be interested. Special occasions are great moments to give speeches because in this way you can build up confidence and be able to keep a professional standard. In, conclusion speeches are made up of many parts that take a lot to go through but it is worth it in the end because you get to relay a message to your audience.
